Midland Railway Butterley – 1st April 2013
The second of A1A Locomotives‘ working locos out over the Easter period, after 31162 got proceedings going on Easter Saturday, was 31271 at the Midland Railway Butterley.
‘271 worked on both Sunday and Monday doing 4 round trips from Butterley each day. Unfortunately for the MRB they had no heat on either of their sets, 271’s wasn’t warm at all and the other set had steam loco 47327, in Thomas livery, but that had no steam heat capabilities so all trains over the whole weekend had no heat; with the temperatures not getting much above 5 degrees it didn’t make for the most comfortable surroundings on a cold train.
31271 was in fine spirits, as always, and performed faultlessly right to the end of its weekend, the audience on the last train back from Riddings being just one person………
