North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) 4th August 2013

Things had been a bit quiet on the 31128 front at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway since May; although everything else diesel had been out loads. See NYMR Diesels for details of both past and future workings. Thanks to 37264 failing the previous day 31128 got a much deserved outing on 4th August, having worked through from Grosmont to Pickering the previous evening, working the following:

0900 Pickering – Whitby (steam 75029 added to rear at Grosmont), 1140 Whitby – Pickering (on rear – steam 75029 leading), 1145 Pickering – Whitby (on rear – 25278 leading), 1400 Whitby – Pickering (25278 on rear to Grosmont) & 1600 Pickering – Grosmont

The weather was nice, the trains not wedged and the driver on 31128 knew where the power handle was; all making for a cracking day out with another excellent class 31, on a decent load with gradients to boot.
