At Peak Rail 31270 had continued to work T&T with steam loco 68013 throughout the Summer and had been the only active diesel the railway had since D8 had been taken out of service in June to attend to low power issues. ‘270 had even worked the whole day’s service on its own on at least one occasion when the most reliable steam loco in preservation was itself not available, running round every time at Matlock Riverside.
31270 continues to be the only diesel available to Peak Rail, with no estimate for when D8 will return to traffic at this time.
