Brussels April 2012

A weekend away with the other half, during which the weather was strangely quite good to us, despite the time of year. We traveled out and back by Eurostar, unfortunately our return journey was 90 minutes late into St Pancras and we’d missed our booked connection at Kings Cross. Eurostar on board staff stamped our tickets though, which allowed travel back on the next available service. I was very surprised too to receive an e-mail from Eurostar two days later offering two free one-way tickets on their services, to a destination of my choice, for use within a year.

We stayed at the Hotel Chambord which was ideally situated within 10 minutes walk of Grand Place and 15 minutes walk of the Euro Zone, and right outside Porte de Namur Metro station with connections to anywhere in Brussels right on the doorstep. Beware of the price hike for midweek stays, which is applicable to all of Brussels. It’s best booking through Expedia or Opodo too as the prices direct through the hotel are higher.

Travel around Brussels couldn’t be easier with Jump tickets being available for travel on train, metro, tram & bus. They’re available in many different forms, from single tickets, to ten voyage tickets, to daily tickets.
