Mid Norfolk Railway (MNR) May 2012

The Mid Norfolk Railway is always a bit of a challenge, with it being so far away more than any other reason, but thanks to 37003 failing for the railway’s Stratford Depot themed gala and the fact that DRS couldn’t provide replacement 37087 until the Sunday, there was more than enough reason to make the 2h30m drive across country as 31235 was timetabled to work 97 miles on the Saturday, with 47596 working the opposite set all day. While 37087 did turn up at the railway on the Saturday afternoon, and was attached to the rear of the 1450 Wymondham – Dereham, that was all it did on the Saturday, and a good day was had by all the 31 bashers that made the journey east……

31235 didn’t see much action on the Sunday & Monday, which was a shame as quite a few 31 folk were planning to make the journey, based on the original timetable, which had it working 2 round trips each day. The fact that 37087 was air only had a bit to do with it as the loco turns had to be changed to accommodate that. Still, a very poor show for the 31 at yet another Mid Norfolk Gala.
